Seeking disciples for Christ; preparing them for eternal life with Christ

Beginnings

Agape Missionary Baptist church was birthed on November 1991, out of a burning desire for God’s people to learn his word and to apply the word to their lives. Agape was initially located in Duncanville, Texas. The Ministry’s name was changed to Agape Christian Center in 1998, and relocated to Desoto, Texas in August 2006.

Leadership

Pastor Felton Benton is the Senior Pastor and Founder of Agape Fellowship Christian Center in Desoto, Texas. He attended Arkansas A&M College (now Arkansas-Pine Bluff University) and the University of Texas at Arlington. He received his calling into ministry in 1988 under the leadership of Reverend Mose Henderson, Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church in Dallas and was guided under Pastor C.D. Knight also of St. Paul Baptist Church. He received pastoral training and guidance by R.M. Bell of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Dallas, and theological training from Southern Bible Institute. His father in ministry is Bishop Robert Smith of Total Outreach for Christ Ministries in Little Rock, Arkansas.

 

Pastor Benton is also passionate about Christ-centered education and co-founded Turning Point Christian Academy with his 49 years ago. 

 

He has been married for 43 years to his life partner, Mrs. Brenda Benton and is a father of four daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren, and countless spiritual sons and daughters in Christ.

Pastor Felton L. Benton 

Mrs. Benton has BS in Nursing from Texas Women’s University and has worked in the nursing field for more than 40 years as a registered nurse. A natural caretaker, she has also worked in children’s ministry for more than 30 years, and has a passion for children and teaching them the ways of the Lord.
